With more than two decades of financial leadership experience, Steve Lavey joined the Cook Media Global team in 2025 as chief financial officer. In this position, he leads the ministry’s fiscal functions, including long-term financial planning, acquisitions, financial stewardship and organic initiatives.
Steve’s areas of expertise include scaling high-growth businesses, leading and driving financial strategies, and raising growth capital. His experience spans across public companies, private equity-backed start-ups and Christian nonprofits.
Before joining Cook Media Global, Steve led his own consulting service and investment company, Northlight Partners, and was co-founder and managing director of Vivoblue Inc., a Christian private equity-backed water filtration manufacturer that delivers clean water solutions to families in need in more than 30 countries.
Prior to Vivoblu, Lavey was global chief financial officer at Opportunity International, a Christian nonprofit serving more than 28 countries by providing microfinance loans, savings accounts, training and support to help more than 21 million families build sustainable livelihoods.
Lavey is a CPA and a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he received a bachelor’s degree focused on accounting and economics, and a master’s degree in business administration, majoring in finance and corporate strategy.
Lavey works out of the Cook Media Global headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo.
